ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is a reflection of my fascination with light and its transformative effect on the world around us. Through my work, I aim to reveal the subtle beauty that often goes unnoticed in our daily lives, encouraging viewers to see the world with fresh eyes.

Nature plays a significant role in my creative process, as I draw inspiration from outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and camping. These experiences teach me to appreciate the ever-changing play of light and shadow, influencing the way I depict these nuances in my art.

Using a variety of mediums, including watercolor, acrylic, free-motion embroidery, and pastel, I strive to capture the essence of a scene and evoke a sense of emotion in the viewer.

While I am primarily self-taught, I continue to refine my craft through local courses and personal experimentation. My best work emerges when I feel a deep emotional connection to my subject, aiming to convey that emotion to the viewer and prompt contemplation.

Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to draw viewers into my world, sparking their imagination and inviting them to see the beauty that surrounds us in a new light.
