ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a Newfoundland artist inspired by the landscapes that have shaped my life. Through painting, free-motion embroidery, and mixed media, I create work influenced by the coastlines, trees, and quiet places that continue to draw me back.

I am especially interested in landscapes that show the effects of time and weather. Wind-shaped trees, rugged shorelines, and overlooked corners of the landscape often find their way into my work. These places remind me of how closely our lives are connected to the environments around us.

Using thread as a drawing tool alongside paint and other materials, I build layers of texture and mark-making that reflect both the landscape itself and my experience of it.

Rather than focusing on a specific view, I try to capture what draws me back to a place again and again.

My work is rooted in Newfoundland and in a lifelong appreciation for the beauty, character, and resilience of the places we return to again and again.
